With millions of dollars riding on every 30 seconds, Super Bowl advertisers once again turned to humor, celebrities and emotional storytelling to break through. The Food Institute looked at some of the brands that scored during Super Bowl 60 and what makes an ad connect with such a massive audience.

quench Executive Creative Director Chuck Meehan shared his perspective on why audiences were ready for some levity this year and why Budweiser’s Clydesdale and bald eagle spot worked so well. “Those two symbols together immediately tap into something emotional and familiar,” Meehan said, noting that Budweiser used that connection to tell a story that felt bigger than the product.
